Did you ever wonder how these incredible wonders came to be? The Great Lakes were formed by melting glaciers over 10,000 years ago. These freshwater giants, Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario, are like nature's grand masterpiece, a gift from the Ice Age.
What makes the Great Lakes truly exceptional is that they hold the title of the largest body of freshwater on Earth! These interconnected lakes, surrounded by stunning landscapes, are home to unique ecosystems, wildlife, and plants that can't be found anywhere else. They are a true natural wonder, providing a home to fish, birds, and lush sand dunes.
But these lakes are more than just beautiful; they're a precious resource. The Great Lakes supply clean and fresh drinking water to millions of people, support recreation like swimming and boating, facilitate transportation and industry, and are a vital ecosystem for countless species.
It's crucial that we take care of these treasures. Conservation and sustainable practices are the key to preserving this incredible body of water for generations to come. Let's do our part to protect and support the Great Lakes, ensuring they remain a source of wonder and life for all of us.

Ahoy there Mates! Today I take time out to express our heartfelt appreciation to the winter sanctuary of Ahh! Venture Cruise and the place of our summer launch pad. I'm talking about ME Yacht Restoration, a place that is truly above and beyond in the category of marine vessel care for winter and summer needs. It's not just about boats; it's about the people, the service, and the atmosphere that make it a top-notch destination for boaters from all over the Great Lakes. From the moment we step inside the storage facility, we're greeted by the luxury of heated floors, motion sensor lighting and 24/7 access that is a testament to the thoughtfulness behind the design. The safety of floating docks for summer are not only convenient, they provide safety for easy on and off to family, friends, and guests. The summer of 2023 has been filled with major landscaping including preparation for growth on the water's side along with trees, shrubs, flowers, fencing and lighting, making the summer views nothing short of spectacular for a marina.
Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of ME Yacht Restoration is their unwavering commitment to customer care and management's care of their staff. Whether it's answering questions, providing advice, or assisting with boat related matters, they're experts who truly care about their customers. Just take a look at the photos above and you will not only see modern day methods of hauling out extremely large boats, but it's done by remote control trailers managed by confident and capable young workers balancing on One Wheels as they haul. Come on Captain Cal...let's keep up with these youngsters and try the One Wheels ourselves. Ouch!!!
ME Yacht Restoration is more than a facility; it's a family, a haven, and a true gem of the Great Lakes. We're honored to call it home, and we know that boaters from all over share in our appreciation for this five-star destination.
Until next time, fair winds , following seas and heartfelt gratitude! 🚢🌟🌿
It all starts with the boat being pulled out of the water. There's an odd sort of tug-of-war happening as the boat seems to resist leaving its aquatic playground. It's as if it's saying, "Are you sure about this? Can't we just stay and brave the elements together?" Now, as the boat is safely stowed away, we can't help but think of Elsa from "Frozen" singing her famous line, "Let it go!" But in our case, it's more like, "Let the boat go!" Back inside, the fire is indeed delightful. It's the warm haven that beckons to us as we prepare our boat for its winter slumber. It's as if the fireplace knows just how to console us, assuring us that we'll make it through the winter just fine.
So as we bid our boat farewell for the winter, let's remember that even in the most comically sad moments, there's a charm to be found. The boat will patiently wait for the warmer days, and we can cozy up to that delightful fire and start planning all the adventures to come next season. Don't forget to book your cruise. ahhventurecruise.com
Until next time, fair winds and cozy firesides! 🔥🚢❄️
"A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guaranty of peace." - Theodore Roosevelt
Ahoy Mates! In the case of our sea-loving hearts, Friday the 13th was a special day for Americans. Not because of its reputation as a day of bad luck and superstition, but because Friday, October 13, 2023 celebrates the 248th birthday of the United States Navy! I'm sorry that I missed it on Friday, but today we set things right! On October 13, 1775 the Continental Congress authorized the establishment of a naval force to protect American interests at sea. The pride I feel for the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the US Navy is immeasurable. They've safeguarded our shores, defended our freedoms, and upheld the honor and traditions of this illustrious institution for nearly 250 years. Though it is a belated salute, it is a heartfelt one!
For all of those who choose to cruise with us, you will be honored to navigate the waters with Captain Cal, a US Navy Veteran. Here's to you Captain Cal and to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve under the banner of the US Navy!
Until next time, fair winds and following seas! 🇺🇸🚢
